GUWAHATI, Jan 14: Admissions of as many as 14 students into the MBBS course in
three medical colleges of Asom under the all-India quota were based on forged
allotment orders. This has been confirmed by the CBI. The revelation was made by
the investigating agency before the Gauhati High Court during a hearing on a
writ petition last month. It may be mentioned here that the writ petition was
filed by five MBBS students seeking declaration of results of their second year
MBBS examination currently blocked by the State Health Department.

no mean task to keep the children engaged sans books. While parents are fuming
that they have to ferry the children for nothing or spend on autos and rickshaws
to take students to their respective institutes, for children it could not have
got better with all play and no work.

four medical students coming from outside the State moving the Gauhati High
Court challenging the rule on reservation of seats for students from the State

hearing of the case, which is three days ahead of the scheduled date of the

government has launched an ambitious Rs 8.17-billion ($208 million) scheme to
develop educational infrastructure in India’s eight northeastern states,
according to an official report.
“Of the Rs 8.166 billion, Rs 6.558 billion have been released so far for various
educational projects in Arunachal Pradesh, Asom, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram,
Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura,” said an official report of the Central Human
Resource Development (HRD) ministry. .
